Top Non-Alcoholic Cocktails

Whether it’s a diet or a part of your lifestyle, it’s tough to find a good non-alcoholic drink. Sure, there are beers out there with no alcohol that still have a great taste, but we’re talking about true non-alcoholic cocktails. To help you search for the perfect drink without any zing, consider these mixed concoctions that skip the alcohol, but are still every bit as decent.



Nojito
Using a typical mojito recipe, skip the alcohol and make sure to use plenty of fresh mint.

Ingredients
•    Crushed ice
•    8 mint leaves
•    3 oz limejuice
•    1 ½ oz sugar syrup
•    2 oz club soda
•    Garnish with mint

Preparation

When preparing a Nojito, lime juice is added when mixing the sugar syrup and mint leaves. The mixture is then smoothly mashed with a muddler. The mint leaves should only be lightly batted to release the elemental oils. They should never be shredded. Fill a glass with ice and then add the club soda. Finally, garnish with mint and you can also put a lime wedge to finish preparing the drink.







Sophisticated Lady
Eastern Standard’s bar manager Jackson Cannon wanted to serve a non-alcoholic cocktail that neither used soda nor a super sweet "juice bomb." The result is a savory take on a Cosmopolitan.

Ingredients
•    1 unpeeled cucumber wheel, plus 1 peeled cucumber spear
•    1 oz simple syrup
•    ¼ teaspoon salt
•    Ice
•    2 oz cranberry juice
•    1 oz fresh limejuice

Preparation

Muddle cucumber with a dash of salt. Add to cocktail shaker and shake over ice with cranberry juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. Serve over ice.







Lemon Verbena and Orange Blossom Fizz
This one mixes one of our favorite flavors, lemon verbena, with a little something exotic. If you can't find any verbena, try a lemon verbena tisane or infusion and allow it to cool, then mix the orange blossom water with that.

Ingredients
•    Small handful of lemon verbena leaves
•    ½ tablespoon orange blossom water
•    1 oz lemon verbena syrup
•    1 oz Soda water
•    Lemon to garnish

Preparation

Muddle the lemon verbena leaves using the back of a spoon in an 8-ounce glass, straining them a little. Pack the glass with ice. Pour in the orange blossom water, syrup, and stir. Top it off with soda water, stir, and garnish with a lemon slice.







La Bohème Noir
A mix of black tea and lavender infused honey that is great for your taste buds. Served at New York’s Eleven Madison Avenue, this soft cocktail is really good for the grown ups.

Ingredients
•    4 oz black
•    1.5 oz lavender-infused honey (a simple syrup made with 2 parts honey to 1 part water, steeped with lavender for ½ an hour)
•    0.5 oz elderflower cordial (non-alcoholic)

Preparation

Blend all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake forcefully with ice. Bruise it into a julep cup full of crushed ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lemon twist. You could also garnish with a choice of fresh fruit or a sprig of lavender.







Myer Lemon Sangria
Use the winter citrus with some ripe apples to create non-alcoholic sangria. Instead of a bottle of wine, you can use grape juice to give it that sweet flavor.

Ingredients
•    1 apple, cored and sliced
•    1 orange, sliced
•    ½ cup sugar
•    3 oranges
•    2 limes
•    2 lemons
•    40 ounces grape juice (white or red)
•    Ice

Preparation

Place and mix the sliced apple, orange, and sugar in a 2-quart glass pitcher. Juice the remaining fruit and add it to the pitcher with grape juice and ice. Leave it to chill to better serve it.
