Ultra Music Festival 2011 Preview

Ultra Music Festival (UMF) was founded in 1998 and is considered a top outdoor event for lovers of electronic music. UMF was originally created to be an electronic dance festival. However, over the years it has grown into something much more. The festival has become a showcase for some of the top techno, electronic, and beat driven pop bands from all around the world. Although UMF is considered an electronic music festival it has grown to incorporate bands that aren’t usually associated with electronic music. The Killers, The Cure, and The Black Eyed Peas have been known to be part of the line up over the years.

For the past 13 years UMF has always been a two-day event that happens in the same week as the Winter Music Conference – but not this year. UMF 2011 is now a three-day event! UMF is considered the world’s biggest electronic music festival and over the three-day span there will be some excellent performers. Some of the familiar faces this year are Tiesto, Deadmau5, and David Guetta.

Haven’t purchased your tickets yet? Well, it’s too late – the event is completely sold out. This is the first time that the UMF’s tickets sold out over a month before the first date! UMF is the world’s first ever major electronic music festival to completely sell out that quickly! In 2010, the UMF held 100,000 people, from all over the globe, in Bicentennial Park. This year there are expected to be 150,000 people ready to have the weekend of their lives in downtown Miami!

During the month of March, Miami has been seeing a lot of action. With the WMC being a huge hit and now UMF quickly approaching there have been people lining the streets! Hotels have been booked in advance and are running out of rooms quickly. Do you have a friend in the downtown Miami area? Now’s the time to give them a call asking to crash at their place the weekend of March 25th through March 27th.

This year, the event will take place over 12 different stages featuring over 200 different artists, DJs, producers, and promoters. The lineup for the UMF is almost overwhelming. Some of the big names this year include Will.I.Am, Chromeo, Moby, Nero, Duran Duran, Erick Morillo, Kaskade, Sasha, Yousef, and Underworld…just to name a few.

Wherever you may be coming from, once you touch down in Miami you will be attending the biggest and best party of the weekend. Are you ready?
