Drama.
Synopsis: Local stud returns from the military to his hometown to find it overrun with drugs.
Bad. If you don't know, The Rock is Dwayne Johnson, a former college football player and WWF superstar. I wanted to like this movie, but the whole thing screamed, 'We have to get this over with in 87 minutes!' Nothing gets developed in this film - characters, subplots, nothing. It is almost amazing how quickly things move along and get resolved in this film.
Yes, there's lots of action, and there's the unexpected treat of Ashley Scott (formerly of the WB?s Birds of Prey) as a blonde dancer in a casino. And there's a little beefcake, too - a couple of minutes of The Rock walking around without a shirt. But at least he didn't do that thing with raising his eyebrow.
Seriously, there's not much else happening here.
This was almost as bad as The Dreamers, but one thing saved it - no one is pretending that this was going to be a quality film, and it doesn't try to be. It's like watching 2-dimensional characters act out a really short story on screen. The acting wasn't necessarily bad; there just wasn't any depth to any of the characters.
Unless you've got a thing for The Rock or Ashley Scott, walk away from Walking Tall.
