OK all you CJ’s out there in cyber-land, after much support from you last week I have decided to return once again and give you B.A.T. “The sequel”
Did you ever feel that when you are washing your clothes a nice stiff drink would make the time just slip by a little faster? Me too! So Tuesday night I decided to kill two birds with one stone and head over to the Laundry Bar to do a little wash and get a little sloshed.
The Laundry Bar caters to a diverse crowd and is one of the only places on the beach that still has a VJ. That’s Video Jockey for all you newbies out there.
With 2-4-1 drinks all night and plenty of washer and dryers available I was in heaven. After setting my clothes on the spin cycle I took advantage of the drink special and shot a few games of pool with some ultra-hip and ultra-fine lesbians here on vacation from Toronto. Needless to say they kicked my ass every game.
I personally think that I was cheated and called for a full investigation and a drug test to check for steroids.
Wednesday I headed over to the new Sobe hotspot Metro Kitchen at the Hotel Astor to check out long time Sobe promoter and icon Tommy Pooch’s party. The crowd was A-list cigar smoking guys and girls with big bucks and even bigger attitudes but was also thin at 12am.
So much for this being the new Sobe hotspot. I definitely wasn’t feeling this party.
After a super expensive Grey goose and Pineapple I decided to change locations and headed over to Skybar to see good friend and bar manger Chad and take advantage of his generosity when it came to free drinks.
Again the crowd was thin but the music was better and the drinks…well, they were a lot better because they were free.
After debating what to do next I decided that it was best to head home and make some good ole fashioned drunken phone calls to friends you haven’t spoken with in years. We’ve all been there before, either on the receiving end or the dialing end.
This time I decided to call an old ex friend who owes me a good amount of money.
I won’t go into too many details but I will tell you all that these phones calls, though they sound like a good idea at the time, are definitely not! You can learn a lot from the B.A.T. and his wisdom nuggets trust me.
Thursday I picked up some friends from the airport and headed to the Liquor Lounge for the weekly Spider Pussy party with DJ Egg-foo-young.
Spider Pussy is great! With its who’s who in the local Sobe crowd always in attendance and great tunes all night long. Where else can you go hear tracks from The Magnetic Fields, Telex or Kraftwerk?
I needed to get my new wave and early electronica fix for the week and I was definitely supplied. I highly recommend this party as a great change of pace for all you hardcore clubbers out there.
With the weekend upon me so soon it was time for me to pack my bags and catch a flight up to New York City for a gig at Therapy Friday night and to check out Victor Calderone with That Kid Chris at Crobar on Saturday.
After getting a few emails from some NY CJ’s announcing they would be in attendance for my gig, I was surprised not to see one of them…SELLOUTS!!
Not to worry though because Therapy was packed wall to wall Friday night and got the special treatment by the B.A.T. The young and hip crowd definitely knows how to get down and have a good time.
If you find yourself up in NYC this summer definitely pass by Therapy on W. 54th in hells kitchen and check it out. This ultra lounge is open 7 days a week and the vibe is great every night.
Saturday I got to see the inside of the new Crobar NY first hand. All I can say is WOW!! They did an amazing job with that space. I loved the bamboo lounge when you first walk in and the main floor is just sick!!
Victor Calderone and TKC rocked the house all night long. Victor definitely stole the show when at 7am he took everyone back to the deep dark jungle with a sick remix / mash-up of his own track ‘deep dark jungle’ and ‘deepest jungle’ by M.I.K.E. Outstanding!!
Sunday I landed back in Miami since my services were needed that night at Michael Tronn’s Anthem party at Mansion. Inspired by the music the night before, I let the boys have it with a no holds barred tribal attack… and oh how they loved it!!
I had some extra fire power thanks to TKC as he hooked me up with some of his unreleased tunes the night before. Thanks again mate!
It was another great Anthem party at Mansion and this week’s party will definitely follow suit as Peter Rauhofer will be gracing the decks all night long after an opening set by yours truly. Definitely check it out!
So that’s it, another week is in the books. I just wanted to say thank you to G.A.T. for letting me take the ropes these last two weeks and that it was a blast filling her shoes.
And to all you CJ’s out there…thank you for letting me entertain you. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
B.A.T.
Hot pick for the week: “summer Lovin” with deckjunkies Craig Demo, Kurtis Patrick and Michael Louis. Thursday July 8th at the Marlin Hotel / Lounge
I can’t believe it’s true for the week: Britney Spears is pregnant…Oh My God!
