To say that Hotel Gansevoort is known for staying ahead of the curve is the understatement of hip, urban understatements. So, it’s no surprise that the place that made its name as the first full-service, luxury hotel in Manhattan’s uber-trendy Meatpacking district, has added yet another first to its ever growing repertoire. With the grand opening of the innovative G Spa & Lounge, Hotel Gansevoort became home to the country’s first spa/bar hybrid.
By day, patrons can soak away their troubles at G Spa’s three infinity-edge hydro pools. Once calm and carefree, they can opt for a private treatment, relax in the spacious steam room, or drop into the Hiro Haraguchi hair salon for the head portion of their head to toe pampering.
You can try the Shiatsu massage to center your Chi, or a signature Body Brushing to soften fatigued skin. And because every face is different, each facial at G Spa is fully customized, marrying a variety of products from such acclaimed lines as Epicuren, Sonya Dakar, MD Skincare, and Anakiri.
Additionally, G Spa offers rooftop couples massages complete with stunning 360-degree river and city views, as well as luxurious manicures and pedicures performed in private cabanas in the hotel’s garden. G Spa’s “day” bar, serves healthy drinks and spirits, and features a new, Japanese-influenced spa menu from Hotel Gansevoort’s own Japanese and robatayaki restaurant, Ono.
When the sun sets on the Hudson, treatment rooms morph into VIP lounges, sheets of glass encase the hydro-pools, live DJs start spinning, and G Spa transforms into an upscale hot spot for club-goers and lounge lizards. The bar and lounge, run by Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva of Butter, (a restaurant/night club in New York’s East Village) features creative cocktails and savory Japanese-style small plates from Ono.
Massage and mingle. Sip and soak. Indulge and imbibe. G Spa at Hotel Gansevoort is the place for men and women of note to unwind and socialize over manicures and massages by day, and signature cocktails and sushi by night.
Hotel Gansevoort is located on Ninth Avenue at 13th Street. For more information about the hotel, G Spa, or Ono, click here. For appointments at G Spa, call 212-660-6733.
