It’s that time of year again here in Miami. The summer heat wave is bearing down on us, the tourist traffic is at its lowest and the B.A.T. is making his cooljunkie debut.
After a good chat with our favorite cooljunkie G.A.T., I decided that I was more than up to the task of filling her shoes for a few weeks. (I will bet anything that my feet are bigger.)
After much debating on where to begin my B.A.T. adventures for the week, I decided on Tuesday to check out the ever popular and long running roaming martini party hosted by Edison Farrow. What a great concept for a party. Each week there is a different upscale location and different featured martini.
This week’s location was the fabulous Rose Bar at the Delano. The featured martini for this week was a tasty Blue-Door-Tini which was way too easy to drink and to spill on ones friend. (Sorry Jordan!)
The mixed A-list at the Delano was full of high rollers, plastic honeys and gorgeous boys all strutting there stuff to some nice electro-clash tunes.
Wednesday I pulled a complete 180 from the night before and headed to Sobe’s best dive bar…The Deuce. For those of you who have never been before, The Deuce is the oldest drinking establishment on the beach. So old in fact that it’s also the only place on the beach with a 24 hour liquor license.
Late nights at The Deuce are like opening a purse you just stole from some old lady on the beach….you never know what you are going to find inside.
On this night my friend and I were treated to some great drama provided by a couple from South Dakota who swore that they were in the Deuce undercover filming a movie. Priceless!
With every “quiet on the set!” that they shouted out between shots of whiskey and bottles of Bush beer, I nearly spilled my drink from laughing so hard. When a local drag queen wondered in for a drink, the couple yelled out “There’s the director. Where have you been all night?”
Absolute madness!
Thursday the laugh parade continued as I caught the advance screening of Dodgeball. There were plenty of CJ’s in attendance and it was good to finally meet some of you. You know I always adore my fans.
Friday I headed to Cafeteria for the new ‘no scripts no drama party’ hosted by two newcomers Beau & Edwin. The back room at Cafeteria was packed and we were all getting down to some quality tunes by Amalia. The girl knows how to play!
My friends and I partied at Cafeteria till the sun came up and without thinking I was faced with something I hadn’t done in a long time…..the dreaded walk of shame! It was tough at first but in the end I handled it like a pro and made it safely to the comfort of my bed for some well kneed R&R.
Elton John said it best… “Saturday nights alright for fighting.” Due to some issues I had to forego any Saturday night festivities. Plus I needed a rest from the long night before (I sound like an old man. I swear I’m not!).
After lots of sleep I was ready for Sunday and the week's crowning event, the queen of all queens, Jr. Vasquez was going to be throwing it down at Mansion.
After what is rumored to be a bitter break up, Anthem promoter Michael Tronn has moved his party from Crobar to Mansion. Good move in my opinion. It’s always good to have a change of scenery and the interior of Mansion provides and awesome change.
The party was packed wall to wall and the music was outstanding. Dark tribal and YES, hardly any vocals all night long. The highlight of the night besides the music and eye candy was seeing the recently relocated to Miami Danny Tenaglia cutting a rug by the bar with Wonda the tallest drag queen ever made.
What a week!
Hot pick for the week: ‘House Music’ Tuesday @ Bed with Amalia & Nelson Diaz
I can’t believe it’s true for the week: Buddha Bar is coming to Miami
