Club Hopping on SoBe

Last minute decision to go out turns into a perfect night of clubhopping!

I must say, some of my favorite clubbing experiences have come on those nights in which no planning was ever involved, such as this night!

So, Saturday night comes along, Fredda and I are feeling quite groovy from the 2 bottles of wine we downed and are settling in for a relaxing evening. We had no intentions of going out whatsoever until I run into my neighbors/friends, Julio, Ricky, and Tony, whom are dressed up and ready to rock for the night.

Seeing them all fired up for the night's festivities put us both in the mood to join them. They were heading over to Pearl so we figured we would just tag along, grab a few drinks, and see where the night takes us from there.

We throw some clothes on, jump in the car, and tell the crew we will meet them at Pearl. We finally make it down to the packed beach and struggle to find parking, but at least it was FREE.

As we arrive at Pearl, the crew is just about to enter the club and they quickly pull us in. Talk about perfect timing!! Thanks Julio! So far, the night is looking and feeling good! Once inside, Fredda and I notice that the soundtrack of the night is Hipity-Hop, not our favorite style of music, but what the hell, we decided to make the best of it.

I can actually hang with Hip-Hop, but when they start throwing cheesy Britney Spears mixes, its time to go. So, Fredda and I pounded down a Red Bull & Vodka, compliments of Ricky, (Thanks Ricky, I owe you one brotha) and decided to split from Pearl and check out Crobar.

We arrive at Crobar and Emi is nowhere to be found, but Joey was nice enough to bring us in with the special treatment, VIP bands and all, Thanks Joey! Crobar is kinda slow, everyone is possibly saving their energy & money for conference, but the House music is hitting the spot for us!

Definitely an improvement from the wickedy-whack Hip-Hop we were hearing earlier. We make our rounds through the club checking out Cedric doing his thing in the Main Room, DJ Pedro working his magic in the VIP room, and Matt Martinez throwing down a funky CD set in the Ultra-VIP, seems there was a turntable malfunction or something in there, and finally running into Emi where we exchanged a few laughs & smiles.

Then I came up with an excellent idea. Since Fredda has never been to the new Space and I havent been in a long time, I figured we would check it out on the way home. So, I ask Emi to call his brother Eddie to see if he could put us on the list. They were both cool enough to help us out and a little while later we were heading downtown to Space for an afterhours session.

Thanks Emi & Eddie! Thanks to Eddie, we were all hooked up as we arrived at Space! Shawn, the doorman, kindly welcomed us and brought us in quickly. Thanks Shawn!

I gave Fredda the grand tour of the place and then we ended up lounging in the DJ booth enjoying an exciting Oscar G set! Oscar was dropping some nice tunes that had us moving. Some classic older tracks that I hadnt heard in a while mixed in with some newer bangin' stuff, including a taste of Southside's new track, which is SWEET!

Sammy & Charlie of Southside were there to test out the track which should be out very soon!! Good luck with that guys! Oscar's mixing was flawless, as usual, and his great use of the EQ, effects, and samples made for some great energy and nasty buildup & breakdowns.

We had a great time watching & listening, Thanks Oscar for always providing the funk! After a few more strolls around the club we ran into Biz who pulled us into the VIP area and we just chilled there for a bit. I really wanted to show Fredda the Terrace and experience a magical Roland set, but come 6:15AM, the Terrace was still closed off to us so we decided it was time to go.

Fredda and I enjoyed our spontaneous night and we thank everyone that made it possible!!
