The third installment of this Shampoo monthly showed that this party is gaining momentum. Some of the people involved were wondering if the harder style of trance in the main room was really going to stick or not. Stick? Its stuck in forward, with no signs of stopping.

Like the previous two cooljunkie events, this event was an 18 to enter, 21 to drink. The crowd as I walked around the party seemed a little bit older this time. To date, we are getting a very strong over 21 crowd to these events and bar looked pretty packed with attractive members of the new cooljunkie massive enjoying their beers and cocktails to the sounds of TJ the DJ from Club Tru/ Studio 6 in Atlantic City.

This is the third time I have brought TJ to Shampoo, and it is always a great night of music when he is here. The highly energetic, harder style of trance he spins is so unique to philly. In a town where all the trendy, lounges and clubs are riding the house wave that is running rampant, this trance night was dearly welcomed and needed.

Dont get me wrong, I love House too! There are many great DJs in philly, and we plan on bringing them to this event in the future. Prior to TJ's set, our resident DJ, Vanaysia put the crowd in the mood for TJ with her unique style of high energy trance and tribal house. She is a great up and coming DJ and the crowd was definately feeling her groove. By 11pm the dance floor was crowded!

Since Im in charge of the event, I make my way around the whole party. In the white room, several well dressed patrons were doing putting their moves on the floor to DJ Bis. This room focuses on Latin House, Latin Hip Hop and Raggeaton. Honestly, I dont know much about the Latin Music Scene, but I do know that Bis bangs out great rythmic sounds, that feel tribal in nature, with a latin touch. At least that is what I heard when I walked in around 11:15 or so.

Now, Philly is a Hip Hop City so any good event must have a Hip Hop room. DJ Vito Carducci spun a great night of hip hop party trax with some old school as well. There were alot of people bumpin and grinding on the dancefloor to his mix. The Hip Hop fans always come strong to our events and tonight was no exception.

As the party wound down, I got a chance to spin the last hour in the Main Room. Overall I had a great time this party and we kept a big crowd till the very end. Cooljunkie events happen typcially each 3rd SAT of the month. We are putting together some plans for national DJ acts to come to this event as we focus on the DJ culture. So far, this party is a great event, but then again, you knew I would say that! I am the promoter after all!

Sat May 1st - This is not an official CJ event, but is co-sponsored by CJ Philly. This is gonna be one of the biggest parties of the year as we launch off the warmer weather clubbing season here at Philly. All rooms are open and a special Live Performance by Jin the MC.
