On Friday, May 15, Coor's Light along with Empire Entertainment and 1World Productions presented the second Coor's Light Beach Loft at the Caribe Hilton. The music was in charge of Miami DJ Shawn Rudnick and our own Ivan Robles, who tagteamed to work to crowd with the best in house music.
Last year's Coor's Light Beach Loft was held at the Caribe Hilton's outdoor beach and pool area with music by DJ/Diva Colette from Chicago and a swimsuit fashion show. It was probably one of the most succesful events in terms of both assistance and beauty factor. This year, the vibe and energy created by the last year's hype made the party even better.
WOW.....and what a great party it was!!! Due to rain issues, this year the Beach Loft was moved inside and the lobby was turned into a closed nightclub, where all the trendy San Juan crowd gathered to show off their fashionably white outfits. From TV celebrities to fashion models, there were so many beautiful people dressed in white that it was easy to believe you were in heaven.
Shawn Rudnick and Ivan Robles made sure that such heaven was complimented with really good house music. Famous tracks like the remixes of Kelis' "Milkshake", White Stripe's "Seven Nation Army", U2's "With or without you", Pink Floyd's "The Wall", among others made everyone go crazy on a packed dancefloor.
The energy at the dancefloor was intense, but the real climax came at about 3:00 a.m. when after a remix of Celia Cruz's "Kimbalacumbala", five percussionists came out of nowhere and started playing along with Shawn Rudnick. This was the ultimate highlight of the night, since the blend of house and live tropical percussion made everyone burst with energy. The energy was such, that even promoters Carlos and David got on stage to dance and pump the crowd even more.
After about 20 mins. of pure adrenaline-filled percussion, DJ Ivan Robles took on the reins with classics such as Milk & Sugar's "Let the Sunshine In", Kult of Krameria's "Esperanca", Chamonix's "77 Strings" and Jaydee's "Plastic Dreams", among other famous San Juan favorites.
Everyone was having a blast until a fight broke out at the farther end of the lobby and blood spilled everywhere. It turned out that apparently a famous local male model got his ass kicked for slapping some girl in front of everyone. Luckily, the fight got broken up pretty fast, thanks to a good job by the security guys, and many people didn't even notice what had happened.
The party went on till 5:00 a.m., when hotel management decided it was enough. Yeah right!!!!...........enough for them, but the dancefloor was still packed and the crowd was cheering for one more song. DJ Ivan Robles looked back at Carlos in search of approval to go ahead and please the crowd with one last track. Carlos, bursting with energy said... "lets do it !!!" and, just like that, a truly magical night ended with one last farewell song. Great ending to a greater party!!!
