On the 4 of August 2005, veteran DJ and producer Lance Jordan introduced NYC to his new record label, Dusk Recordings. The world-renowned club Cielo played host to the label release party. The night was a success.
The party began with an opening set by DJ Genti, who successfully primed the crowd for a bumpy, funky, and upbeat set by Dave Scuba. Scuba closed out his set with Dusk Recordings’ inaugural track called ‘Sleepless’, produced by Lance Jordan featuring the vocal talent of Sylvia Tosun.
‘Sleepless’ will hit the shelves on the 5th of September 2005. Next up on the decks was the man of the evening, Lance Jordan. Jordan laid it down hard and had the packed house rockin’.
In the mix, I heard easily recognizable tunes like Skylark ‘That’s More Like It’, Bombdogs ‘I Can’t Explain’, and Rosko ‘Love Is A Drug’ intermingled with an array of fresh funky progressive tribal house.
At the conclusion of his set, he dropped the melodic tune ‘Mr. Brightside’ by The Killers remixed by Thin White Duke. He then cut the music, nodded to a graciously applauding crowd, and wrapped up the set with an upcoming tune on Dusk Recordings, a collaborative effort between Jordan and Bory Z.
Michael Hime closed out the night with a gritty underground NYC set that featured a collaboration with a live musician.
All around, it was a great night. Great music, great vibe, great venue. There are several future Dusk Recordings parties planned at the moment. They will be hosted by Cielo and are tentatively slated for September 13, October 11, and November 17. Personally, I am very much looking forward to them.
