If there’s one venue that’s made a clear-cut impact on the EDM community as of late, it has to be the Electric Pickle. Sure, we have places like Space and Mansion on Saturday nights that pack the house, but they have more of the commercial feel to it. The Electric Pickle has already hosted techno tastemaker names like Damian Lazarus, Matt Tolfrey and Marc Ashken. The point is, if your attention is always on the new sounds coming out of the genre, chances are the Electric Pickle are looking to book them. Thanks to parties produced by SAFE, many of these names make it into the venue, and this week it’ll happen again as they bring in one of the biggest names on the techno scene, Matthew Dear, aka Audion.
Last time Dear was in town it was for Winter Music Conference, and his Spectral party at Grass that went over very well. This time around he’ll be bringing his signature sound to Electric Pickle, where the crowd will definitely be dance-hungry for the duration of the set. However, the opener’s the kicker on this one. While many party’s opt for the resident that could at times put people to sleep (or just have them guesstimate when the headliner will take over the decks) SAFE has brought in petFood’s own Jay-You, via Los Angeles. A Miami native at heart, lately he’s been making a lot of noise out west opening for the likes of James Zabiela, Simian Mobile Disco and fellow petFood comrade and Miami native Lazaro Casanova. Now he’s looking to bring his high energy set with him this Friday night.
This should is quite possibly the musical highlight for Miami this weekend. We’re not sure if there’s another ticket in town that can offer the same quality sounds from start to finish as these two will at the Electric Pickle.
