The audible and visual boroughs of self-expression seem to parallel each other in a blatant marriage of subjective sensory surrealism that automatically appeals to the emotional spectrum and evocative passion found in both visual art and music spawned from urban culture. In other words, the only way you can understand hip hop culture is through the art and music.
Of all forms of creative expression, music and visual art have cornered the market on epitomizing the lifestyle that cannot be mistaken for any other place, feeling or human experience. There is no better way to evoke the unmistakable feeling of the urban landscape than to be surrounded by the art and music spawned from the lifestyle. On January 31st at Miami's Black Sheep Bar Black Sheep Miami Beach Murk'd will be presenting The Rub, a hip hop gala of sonic synchronicity that will simultaneously please the eyes and ears.
“Murk’d is an edgy dancy party that we’re doing and we wanted to use that as an outlet to do other events such as this art show,” says Murk’d co-producer Sammy Donado aka Parable. “We just wanted to give an opportunity to the more urban street artists.”
The Rub, a Brooklyn based classics and Hip-Hop party that has been widely recognized as the best monthly club night in New York City for several years has hit the road with two of the three Original Spinsters, Dr. Ayers and DJ Eleven. The duo is headlining Murk'ds time tested, audience approved mixture of urban art and hip hop, and promises to transport anyone walking into Black Sheep into the soul of the movement.
“We want to have that sense of urban art involved and remain grimy, not chic,” Parable says. “We definitely embrace that, but we want to separate ourselves and create our own kind of vibe.”
The free event (provided you RSVP at http://www.publicwizardinc.com/rsvp) planned for Saturday will be presented by Murk'd co-producer Javier Ordonez as well as Linda A. of the Coochie Cutters. Parable is slated to be mastering the parties ceremonies. DJ's Ayers and Eleven of the Rub, as well as local acts such as Witnes, DJ Ashrock, Sharpsound, SalamiFingaz and Juan Basshead will provide the soundtrack to the installation.
Doors are at 9 pm although it is encouraged to arrive early.
