Hi all!
Let’s jump in and see what’s going on this week.
This Wednesday, October 17th, Sidekick fanatics get their chance to get their hands on the all new T-Mobile Sidekick LX. The new device is a bit thinner, has a smoother profile, a larger high definition LCD swivel screen, new color options of midnight blue or espresso brown, and integrated features including a custom-designed MySpace Mobile application available for download.

One of the first stores to carry this product in the country is the Kendall T-Mobile Store located at 12801 N. Kendall Drive. It will hosting an exclusive consumer launch event to celebrate the latest generation of the iconic device. The event starts at 8:00 AM on October 17th with the first sale at 9:00 AM and will continue until 2:00 PM that day. For more information, please visit www.sidekick.com.
Wednesday morning will be a busy one. Besides a new phone launch, there will also be a store opening. And this one, most of you already know of. Ikea finally makes it out to South Florida right in my old stomping grounds of Sunrise.
This past Monday Ikea had its invite only opening party, which I missed, but to find my way out to Broward now-a-days is not as easy. I like staying on or near South Beach. But for Ikea, I may go as early as next week during the early hours to visit and return (already) some items I picked up while I was in NYC last month.
A party I won’t be missing is the Sidekick LX party at Hotel Victor by the pool side and the Vue Terrace on Thursday night with DJ Paul Sevigny. Now this party is by invite only and for those who already are Sidekick owners. But if you do go, get there early or you might get shut out.
As for the way the rest of the week unfolds, Thursday there is the monthly Jam at MAM with the best happy hour in town. Honey, for $10, you get to walk around the museum, enjoy bites and drink from the donation bar, plus live music. This month is OktoberFest, so come out and enjoy starting right after work from 5 PM till 8:30 PM.
My art adventures continue Friday at Gallery 138 which is celebrating a new exhibit titled “I Heat Robots” with over 40 local artists displaying and representing their love for robots. The grand opening reception is Friday, October 19 at 8:00 PM and it’s open to the public. All of the art displayed will be available for purchase that evening and following the show, viewings of I Heart Robots works will be open to the public by appointment only.
So, come by, have a cocktail, and support local art. There will be complimentary Sonnema Vodka Herbal cocktails and Vitamin Energy drinks. For more information about Gallery 138 please visit www.ochoplacas.com/gallery138 or call 786.486.2445.
Mark on your calendars: BED’s is revamping and the new look and menu will be celebrated on Saturday October 27. It’s still open and Monday nights’ “Secret Society” party continues to have a complimentary dinner for the ladies. For more information, call: 305.532.9070.

Also, keep your eyes open and stay awake for the thirteen hour extravaganza, Sleepless Night. It’s happening all over in Miami Beach, Saturday, November 3 from 6 PM to 6 AM – plus an extra hour because that’s the night the clock falls one hour back. All of it is free with indoor and outdoor events like films, ballet performances, barbeques, drinks, art, music and people. Check out sleeplessnight.org and plan out to stay up till the sun rises.

New in my MP3 player
Danny Marquez – Mumba. Not out yet, but Roger played it and I couldn’t stop dancing.
Weekly Picks
Thursday – Formally known as Xtréme Café, now revamped with a new look and a new name, Abraxas Lounge will be hosting a new party on Thursdays. If you’ve been to The Room, this place is almost identical with the beer and wine menus but not as popular, but to me, just a little cooler. Apartment 407 is a new party that begins this week with reduced beer and wine selections from 11 to 12 and rotating $4 beer specials weekly (I hope Chimay is on the list). It’s brought to you by Ray Millian so you know the music will be good, the vibe will be chill and people will be fun. Located on 4th and Meridian Ave on South Beach.
Saturday – I love a good birthday party especially when it’s going to turn into a wild night. Starting today Saturday, over at Suite, Danny Tenaglia spins a sexy long six hour set in celebrations for Biz Martinez. Get there early if you want to get in, because this one will be bananas. 21+
Sunday – But celebrations for Biz don’t stop on Saturday night. Continue the party by resting SunDAY and at night head on over to Set for the SunDance Party with Behrouz & Stephan Luke. Dress with your Sunday best. 21+
