Happy Holidays CJ readers!

As I wake to another average morning here in the city of Miami Beach, I look out my window to a view of palm trees and blue skies. If I stand up, I will catch a view of my alley, this week with garbage cans filled with trash from this past Holiday, including empty beer and wine bottles, wrapping paper, boxes of the various electronics given as gifts and the tinsel that adds some kind of sparkle to the waste.

My Holiday was not the way I hoped for. I ended up babysitting a person I knew would take it far and I warned all, “I’m not babysitting him”, but those words fell on deaf ears. But on the 25th day of December, it was all about movie watching in our enormous sectional, where we laid out and watch films on our big ol’ TV and supersonic sound system – thank you very much. Unlike the movies, we didn’t change from our PJ’s, ate left overs and enjoyed the wonders of HD.

I finally found myself out of bed today the 27th – already Thursday! With a few more days till the end of the year, I am not sure what to expect day to day. Honestly! And that right there has left me in the nastiest mood I could be, worse now during this festive season.

See, my gift to myself was to be with the ones I loved in bed and do no work. My cell was dead and my charger was lost, so I couldn’t care. And I made enough Lechon, arroz con gandules and all that Latin yumminess that we were well stocked with food.

Enough about my melodrama and these holidays! We did manage to give lots of stuff to Good Will. That makes me feel a bit better.

Moving on to the “what did you get” part of GAT; Now if you guys got a new IPhone – awesome! Personally – I am one of those party poopers who hate songs as ring tones, so please, as Da La Soul would say it back in 1989, “put it on vibrate!”

If you still have a list of people you want to get something for here are a couple of ideas.

For the bag lady – something from Lollipop Boutique in Aventura Mall! It’s a great shop and huge carry all bags for under $300 and maybe less. That compared to the fakes made by abused children making $1 a day. Not trying to be political, but fakes are just that – fake. And any fashionista can spot one a mile away blindfolded. And seriously – you are fooling no one.

Nothing like music for those DJ’s in your life. Gift card to Beatport.com is perfect! Some of the best and latest dance tracks from electro to house to hip hop are there in full album or 12” remix.

Another is Juno (www.juno.co.uk) for excellent European tracks that don’t hit our dance floors for months and some even years…so check them out. Each of these mp3 tracks go as low as a couple of dollars and worth every cent. Clear and perfect and you get it right away to play where ever you wish…unlike the other proprietary music sites like ISomething.

Now, it’s time to start prepping for the end of the year! Next week, check on Monday, New Years Eve for GAT where I will let you know about what’s going on for you late deciders. I know you…didn’t want to plan, waited till the last moment. I got you. Just come back and GAT will take care of you.

Weekly Picks

Thursday – Save that energy for the longest party weekend. If you here on vay-kay, a walk on the beach will make your friends back home envious of you. If you want to shop, do it on Lincoln Road, where you can see locals getting around and maybe you can make it to Zeeks – a place I love to call my Homer Home. 100 beers, any choice is only $3!! Yeah – no joke. My fave, the raspberry Main beer – so good.

Friday – Stereo at ParkWest (next door to Space) will be open for the classy types who like open format type of music. A classy joint, with strict door, so come dressed and make sure to bring your cold hard cash.

Saturday – Space is open for you young ladies who love to dance and party. Chicas, if you are over 18, you are in. But don’t bring some fake ID. These door guys are PROS. The music is deep house and the patio is open with Roger Sanchez when the sun is up. Expect GREAT house music, sunglasses and good times. Hey, if people flock to this location from all around the world to dance, go and see what it’s about – ESPECIALLY with The S Man on the turn tables.

Sunday Before the year is over, take time and relax at the very popular, yet hidden pleasure of The Standard Hotel on Sundays. Show up early to enjoy the sun setting over the bay out by the pool, have dinner or just sit back and read a book. The tranquility of The Standard will prepare you to celebrate the rest of the week. It’s time for out with the old and in with the new…great place to start. Live DJ, the famous bingo game at night with fantastic prizes and some of the cooler people around town.
