This weekend Miami welcomes yet another addition to its nightlife circuit. Located at 247 23rd St., right next to Mokai for those of you with the bad sense of direction, Aero Bar will be opening its doors this weekend and attempting to wow all with the incredibly impressive aesthetics that the team there have implemented.
The architecture of the venue itself is something to marvel. The name ‘Aero’ wasn’t just the product of a brainstorm, with rounded corners throughout the venue, there’s no dark corner to hide, putting everyone in the middle of it all, something that owners Tony Guerra and Joseph Boyd wanted to put into practice. Loners beware.
“The concept for Aero Bar came about as a round table idea,” says Director of Marketing for Aero Bar Roland Poitevien. “[Tony Guerra] didn’t want one person to be the focal point, but wanted everyone to always be a part of the conversation. So there is no focal point in the room, no corners, no dark areas, no dead spots. No matter where you sit, you are in the loop.”
The aesthetics of Aero Bar, although difficult to describe, seem to transport oneself a few years into the future as bright colors collide and subtle slants in architecture. Another interesting characteristic to note are the acoustics. With sound-proof walls and corked floors, the sound will definitely have no place else to go other than the space itself.
“Right off the bat, Tony was thinking about us being the Cielo of Miami,” Poitevien says. “But it deviated a little. We’re primarily going to be house music Friday and Saturday. But we’re also opening up this Sunday. We’re opening up the venue with three nights, but later were planning to expand that to five nights.”
Since their announcement of coming into the area many have been anticipating the opening. What may give the venue an edge on other lounges and clubs is the location. Located near what is set to be the official entrance to South Beach, the area continues to expand, making it a premier area for nightlife.
Friday night Aero will kick things off with Shawn Rudnick, their Friday night resident. Saturday will feature Granite and Phunk, while this Sunday Cedric Gervais will be celebrating his birthday at the new venue behind the decks.
“We have great talent, great production and great staff,” Poitevien says. “We will have the best party per-square foot in town.”
