Music fans say that the most important aspect of a nightclub or lounge is the sound system. While they all agree on this point, others may place service, location or exclusivity at the top of their list. However, what many South Florida nightlife fanatics don’t seem to realize is that the décor rules all. Everything should be pleasing to the eye and somehow flow in particular way. If that doesn’t happen, chances are the guests won’t be coming back too often unless there’s a hell of a deal at the bar. One lounge in Miami that definitely has all of their characteristics on point is located inside of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Pangaea Lounge.
If you happen to be from New York City and Pangaea rings a bell, that’s because it’s a spin-off of the successful Pangaea lounge there, a venue that’s actually been labeled a nightlife institution. The décor is an eclectic mix that’s derived from the name. Although it is inside of the Hard Rock, there isn’t too much rock and roll in this place, but a mixture of Asian, African and European elements that have been combined for one aesthetically pleasing lounge. It pays homage to the Dark Continent, with West African adobe structures, animal skulls, spears and cartographic art. It may sound a little intense to you, but it actually works in favor of the venue.
The lighting around the Pangaea Lounge is what really makes it special. Dimly lit around the entire space, you get a sense of intimacy, but the sound pumping through the speakers is your wake-up call. You can either take a seat in the plush seating with your drink in hand, and dance the night away with others while the DJ spins international lounge beats, house and hip-hop accompanied by live rhythms of Congo drums, tambourines and maracas. There’s even an outdoor area available if you need a fresh breath of air, or if you simply want to finish up your cocktail under the stars.
There’s a little bit of everything at Pangaea Lounge, not to mention there’s a casino right next door. The combination of the décor and the sounds is enough to have anyone raving about the place. But if it’s a true lounge with an amazing atmosphere that you’re looking for, look no further than one of the best nightlife venues that South Florida has to offer, Pangaea Lounge.
