Labor Day: a public holiday held in honor of the working people. CoolJunkie translation: an entire weekend of non-stop parties. If you’re not going out of town this Labor Day, CoolJunkie has compiled a list of just some of the this Labor Day weekend’s best events events. Feel free to make this your itinerary for a weekend full of clubbing, concerts, fashion and let’s not forget about some barbecue.

Friday, August 29

Jermaine Dupri
Date: Friday, August 29
Time: 9PM - 4AM
Venue: Mansion

Dupri has welcomed us all to Atlanta, so it’s about time we welcomed him to Miami. This Saturday he will be enjoying a royal reception at Mansion, complete with a live peormance.

Stereo Fridays
Date: Friday, August 29
Time: 10PM - 5AM
Venue: Park West Nightclub

You might be spending a lot of time at the beach this weekend, so it’s only due that you show downtown a little love. Stereo Fridays is always a fun party, with a live broadcast on Power 96 and free admission for ladies before 12:30 (with reduced admission for guys).

My Morning Jacket

Venue: Fillmore

There are so many club nights this Labor Day weekend, it’s easy to forget about those who don guitars instead of turntables. On tour for their new album Evil Urges, My Morning Jacket will be making a stop at the Fillmore on Miami Beach.

Fridays at The Vagabond

If you’re looking for something a bit different for your Friday night fix, check out The Vagabond. With three different spaces, $1 drafts of Stella Artois before 12, and more Indie and Electro hits than you can shake a stick at, it’s definitely a party worth checking out. And remember, entrance is free before midnight.

Roger Sanchez

Thanks to Stealth records Miami has seen such big-name DJ talent as Martijn Ten Velden and Laidback Luke. This weekend the founder of Stealth, house legend Roger Sanchez, will be stepping up to the turntables at Mansion.

Boris Main Room Marathon Set

If Boris’ Sunday morning marathon set isn’t enough, he’ll also be doing a six hour long marathon set in the main room beforehand.

Slightly Stoopid

State of the Art

Seeing is how there is no work on Monday, you have absolutely no excuse to not stay up until four in the afternoon with Boris and Patrick M for and after-hours marathon set.

Runway Red Carpet

If you’re in search of a hip-hop and fashion fix, you should check out Spirits nightclub on Sunday. Runway Red Carpet is the official launch party for Rohan Marley’s clothing line, and the musical talent will include DJs Khaled, Irie, Kid Capri, Renaissance Disco, Mixmaster Steve, and Black Chiney, along with a live performance by Ray J.

Monday, September 1

2 Live Crew

What could be better than breaking it down to 2 Live Crew at the club? Breaking it down to 2 Live Crew in person, of course. This Labor Day, Miami Bass pioneers 2 Live Crew will be coming to Mansion for a live performance not to be missed.

Matheson Hammock Park and Marina

With its manmade atoll pool, Matheson Hammock Park is a beautiful and safe place to have fun in the sun. If the water is not your thing, there are also nature and bike trails for those who, well, like that sort of thing. There is a full service marina and don’t forget to checkout the popular Red Fish Grill.

Crandon Park

Located in Key Biscayne, Crandon Park is a great place to cookout and hangout by the beach. The water is calm, or lagoon-style, and the beach is long and relatively quiet. There are several benches and grilling locations all over the park—not to mention plenty of space to play football or volleyball. For a five-dollar fee to stay all day, this beach is the perfect place to spend the daylight hours on Labor Day that would otherwise be spent in a stuffy office.
