One hotel that gets a lot of attention on South Beach is the Gansevoort South. Now I know what you’re thinking, “Doesn’t every hotel on South Beach get attention?” That’s absolutely right, but when we talk about a certain hotel, club, bar or lounge that gets ‘attention,’ we mean attention from crowds that have good taste. Although all of the characteristics that Gansevoort South has can pretty much hold up on their own, one important characteristic of the hotel lies on its first floor, and if you don’t happen to come on the right night, you may miss out on it entirely. Yes, Miami’s known for having great lounges, with places like SET, Mokaï and Hed Kandi, but when it comes to all-around combination of entertainment, the look, the feel, the sounds, and even the taste, look no further than Louis Bar and Lounge.

What other place do you know can be described as “a royal Parisian palace on a happy acid trip” by its own marketing team? But that’s exactly what this place resembles. Right as you walk in it’s like being in another world, an antique French world with contemporary flare. The color scheme; black laquered surfaces juxtaposed with eye-catching bursts of bright fuchsia, hot pinks, and canary yellows. If you get a bit dizzy, it’s not your mind playing tricks on you, it’s the walls. Each features a different look, from regal stripes and colorful leopard prints, to shiny black skins and magenta fleur de lis patterns.

Yes this place is amazing just to look at, but while many places have the look of the bar be their last worry, Louis Bar and Lounge takes pride in theirs. Two crystal-adorned bars get all of the attention at this place. But if you’re not looking to grab a drink with the common-folk, and really want the exclusive treatment, there’s plenty of room for that. Twenty-five VIP service tables areas are available in total, but this place feels like one giant VIP area, so if you’re not looking to spend on bottles, no need to worry. Just being in this place counts as VIP treatment.

The best characteristic about this place is that it’s one of the few nightlife venues in the city where you can actually hold a conversation without straining your vocal chords. The front lounge area has one of the coziest vibes you can find, and furniture that you can actually lounge on, instead of having to opt for the chic contemporary, yet extremely uncomfortable furniture at other venues. This is truly the lounge of lounges when it comes to the true meaning of the nightlife establishment. Not only do they have the look, they also have the feel.
