In many ways, dance music has fallen victim to monotony. It seems like a second doesn’t go by that someone releases a cookie cutter big-room electro house track, or someone books a big name DJ for a two hour ear-drum destroying set. That’s why it’s such a refresher when a label like Dirtybird materializes, founded by west coast funky techno wizard Claude VonStroke. This Saturday, two of the labels finest members, Justin and Christian Martin, are coming to Shine, for what is sure to be one of the best parties on the beach.
Their latest release, the Rocket Surgery EP is against the grain from the B-side sci-fi skit The Capacitron, all the way down to the album cover. It’s full of the sort of funky techno fun that you would expect from a label started by VonStroke, especially the most touted track on the EP, Dum. Justin also has new mix on Buzzin’ Fly which will debut in October.
The circumstances surrounding the party are about as unorthodox the Martin Brother’s music. The night is titled “A Dirtybird Wedding” because it is an after party for an actual wedding.
“A little over a year ago, David [Collado] met his fiancée while promoting for one of Justin’s shows in Miami,” Justin said.
Since they met while David was promoting for one of Justin’s parties, it only fits that the Martin Brothers will be coming down the happy couple’s - as Christian puts it - “most memorable party.”
“I could tell from the first time I saw them together it was something special,” says Justin.
It’s not an actual wedding reception, but thanks to David and Justin’s past collaborations, it will be chock full of hardcore Dirtybird fans.
“By now our crew in Miami knows all of our music inside and out, so to keep the dance floor rocking we’re definitely going to have to bring out some new heat,” says Christian.
Not only will this party mark the beginning of a joyous union, it’s also going to kick-start a brand new party at Shine, which will see such talent as David Seaman, Nick Warren, and a possible future appearance by David Morales or Sander Kleinenberg.
