The laptop has to be one of the greatest technological innovations since the Post-it. Work can now be taken home, to the park and to Starbucks, where most people think you’re working on a screenplay when in actuality you’re slaying away at TPS reports. But let’s examine the name for a brief moment; laptop. The keyword there is lap. As Apple, Dell, Sony and many of the other leading manufacturers keep cranking out these bad boys year in and out, slowly eliminating their faults, there’s one major problem that has yet to be resolved; the massive heat that comes off of the laptops and scorch the thighs. To solve this issue, companies have developed the lap desk, usually a hard piece of plastic that makes you look like an even bigger dork while you try to play it off. Usually these things are extremely uncomfortable, and extremely difficult to pull of.

Cons:
- Still seems a bit bulky.
- Only gives laptop manufacturers more reason to slack off on fixing the real problem.
- Am I supposed to buy a carrying case for this too?
