There is only one thing worse than taking a shortcut home after a long night out, only to realize that you are heading in the wrong direction: taking a shortcut home only to realize that you’ve had too many drinks and your car is wrapped around a tree. Until the release of NDrive, if you wanted to test your sense of direction and blood alcohol level at the same time, all you had to rely on was your poor sense of judgment.
The NDrive is, believe it or not, the first product to ever combine a GPS device and Breathalyzer in one device. It’s currently available for 200 euros ($270), a small price to pay for a device that can not only tell you when you need to take a right turn, but also inform you that you need to get your drunk ass a cab. In the future, they might even include a function that will not allow you to start your car unless you are under the legal limit. It also supports 3D photo navigation, which means you can say goodbye to squiggly lines and hello to photo-realistic maps of your surroundings.
PROS
- Greatly reduces your chances of ending the night with a fiery car wreck (which can be a total buzz kill, no point intended).
- 3D photo navigation will make it feel as though you are navigating a real city, not a 1st grader’s art class assignment.
- With a name like NDrive G400 PND, just pronouncing it is blood alcohol test in and of itself.
CONS
- Only available in Portugal for the time being.
- A smiley face and a polite message isn’t ample warning for someone that blows a .55. If you are that drunk and wonder whether or not you can drive, it should say something along the lines of, “Are you out of your fucking mind?”
- Could be used for dangerously accurate drinking contents.
