As many fashion followers already know designers draw inspiration for their collections from various sources. These sources of inspiration can be as simple as a basic colour or as complex as a piece of architecture. However, this season the ever pressing matter of the economy and talk of a depression was thought to darken the runways and dampen many creative outlets. To our surprise this has not been the case at all. Spring 2009 boasts runways filled with colour and the mix of patterns, evident at both Luella and Chloe. Chloe’s runway was a mix of pastel coloured designs and simple silhouettes with scalloped edges, while Luella mixed and matched bright colours and loud patterns on ladylike designs.
The most outstanding similarity found in majority of the Spring 2009 shows is the use of the colour yellow. Yellow is the happy color, ready to brighten the New Year and perfect for a gloomy economic slump. So in a time when the economy, along with the rest of us, could do with some cheering up, it seems the fashion industry’s got us covered.
