Gen Art's Fresh Faces Miami '07 Round Up

On Saturday, March 31st Gen Art and Flamingo South Beach presented Fresh Faces in Fashion ’07 runway show, which featured nine top rising designers in fashion.

The doors opened at 8 pm but as it would have it, I was running late. So were half of the attendants who were stuck in a car jam on West Road. Once inside, I walked straight to the Moet & Chandon VIP Lounge to get a better look at the who’s who and prepare for the show.

The show drew over 1,100 attendees poolside at the Flamingo South Beach, including such famous faces as Cindy Taylor, the sizzling former host of Wild On E!, Anchal Joseph from America’s Next Top Model, and Tinsley Mortimer and her husband Hopper, one of New York’s most infamous socialite couples.

DJ Sage Molotov held down the turn tables with remixes and new music over by the South Tower. The balconies were filled with South Florida’s most highly-recognized faces enjoying themselves in the cool breeze. At 9pm, star of the acclaimed TV series 24, Marisol Nichols along with the evening’s Host Committee Sheikh Tarek Al-Fassi, Sandi Powers, Ingrid Casares, Dany Johnson, Nicole Miller, Belkys Nerey and Jose Ortiz announced the start of the runway show to attendees.

As the show started, one of the show insiders escorted me to the pool side to get a closer look. A raised runway extended over the clear blue waters of the sparkling pool and the vibrant colors of the new designs from Miami’s top up and coming designers made the show a visual feast for the eyes.

Every collection had something to offer. The serpent print tri-kini by Maya, a lovely knit plum dresses by Secrets of Charm, fantastic little black dresses by ZulaStudio, elegant and stylish men’s shirts by Bogosse, and the designs of ONG and H Fedriksson had the touch of urban chic. Plus fantastic accessories by Adriana Castro, Erika Peña and Caroline Dadlani were showcased at the show.

Fresh Faces Fashion was produced by Gen Art’s team including regional director Julia Brown, event director Monica Glass, and event coordinator Andrea Aberegg in conjunction with presenting sponsor Flamingo South Beach, as well as principal partners Acura, Bawls Guaranexx, Jean-Claude Biguine Paris, The Catalina Hotel, Kryolan Professional Makeup, Moet & Chandon, Ocean Drive magazine and smartwater. Supporting partners included Tweezerman, Biore® Skincare, Koko & Palenki, and The Grill at The Setai.

Once the show was over, some guest took their bags and headed over to Cameo for the after party while others ended their night at the post reception at the Flamingo.
