It’s that time of the year again when all things artsy collide in Miami Beach’s version of Art Basel. With the arrival of America’s most prestigious art show comes one of the most anticipated parties of the opening night: Madlib in Miami. Murk’d Miami, in collaboration with Public Wizard Inc. will host the extravaganza at Black Sheep Bar on Thursday, December 4. The event is an alternative to the elitist parties that can be found across Miami during Basel with an extra focus on good music and having fun.
Murk’d started off as a communal gathering that brought together music, art and a big party. As part of the new weekly Robot Love series, Madlib in Miami is the first of its kind for Murk’d, as it’s the only time the group has brought in an international act for an event.
“We knew since back in September, when we were working on the Robot Love Series, that we wanted to do something huge for Art Basel,” said Sammy Donado aka Parable, Murk’d co-producer. “It’s been a month and a half process between contacting artists and working on the contracts.”

As far as the music goes, the night will begin with two sets by local Miami hip-hop artists Rahsaan and then Parable. DJ’s Salami Fingaz, Sharp Sound and Manuvers will provide the rest of the night’s dance, hip-hop and electronic sounds.
“There is a tremendous amount of art events so we wanted to give people the alternative,“ Donado says.
Even though the focus is going to be heavier on the music and party, Murk’d isn’t going to completely leave out the art element. Slow of Los Angeles and Cynic from Melbourne, FL will be painting live. There will also be art installations by another west coaster, Alvaro Roble, and highly regarded TCP of Miami.
“It’s really almost like a regular Murk’d party but turned up a notch,” Donando says. “We just want everyone to have fun, ‘get murk’d’ and party until they pass out and die!”
Doors open at 8PM and it’s free with rsvp. RSVP at www.publicwizardinc.com/rsvp.
