Ok, so lately we’ve been hitting you guys with some gadgets that are actually on the market and available to buy right now, however, every so often we’ll write up on a gadget that’s only a concept, and hasn’t actually come to reality just yet. Here’s another for you guys. Just when you thought that record players were at their dead end, a new concept has been released that could potentially revive the entire way we use and perceive vinyl. Welcome the Void LP Player, a device that can actually have your vinyl hover in mid-air as it plays.
We already know what you’re thinking, “What kind of David Copperfield shit is this?” Well, it seems as though the base is some sort of magnetic, auto-calibrating control system that allows the vinyl to hover over it. If you see the picture below, notice the ball on the vinyl. That serves as the needle, amplifier and speaker. We’re guessing to stop the music you just simply pick the ball off of the vinyl. It’s only a concept right now developed by Korean designer Rhea Jeong, but if it does happen to come out, this could make a major impact on music distribution and a huge comeback for the vinyl.

Pros:
- Vinyl is back baby!
- Minimal pieces to the device.
- No need to throw away that ‘Thriller’ vinyl you had collecting dust.
Cons:
- This looks extremely expensive.
- The ball looks pretty small to serve as the speaker.
- This has cancer written all over it.
