Above picture: Gorgeous models at Go Postal wearing designer collections.
Indulge me for a bit. I wana discuss, review if you will, some of last weeks fashion events.
Thursday was a busy night in the Design District. There were two very different events on the same block and I was at both.
One was Shecky’s which was a paid event ($25 or $12.50 if you got the early deal) and the other was Go Postal for a viewing of some of Miami’s top design houses.
I knew I should have stuck to the comp ticket I was given for the Shecky’s event and kept my $12.50 for what I found was a disappointing “Deluxe Goodie Bag”. Apparently this New York City group had most of the Miami girls excited about New York City shopping, but this event had no urban chic feel. I was in and out in under an hour. I got my bag, walked around for a bit then found a nice corner to sip on my Bacardi Raz and watch the sunset over the Design District.
Next door is where I spent most of my time. Fashion lover and greeter of the night, Miss Lara was in her latest Cardiac ensemble, but her best accessory was cute boy Ryan on her arm. The champagne, sushi and superstar artsy fashionistas kept me entertained. Gorgeous bags by Nazly, amazing (and I mean amazing) shoes by Bastion and delicious pieces by Fernando Garcia were being devoured by guest.

As soon as the bar closed, people made their way out and off into the night. Exactly what I was thinking when low and behold – look who walks in but mother of all mother fashionistas; Patricia Fields. And she came to shop. This meant no one was moving and neither was I. Pat spent time with each designer, trying on and talking to them and we all watched and admired the professional. At the end, I was gone by the time she was up to the third designer (out of 9) but I heard she now owns some great pieces, including KRELwear.
This week in fashion and fashionable events:
Page 3 Model Party - Every Tuesday night, South Beach News newspaper invites all models, designers and creative types to mix and mingle at Catalina Hotel (1732 Collins Ave, South Beach). Models bring your picture for consideration to get on Page 3 Tear Sheet. Dress code is naturally Chic. RSVP: southbeachnews@gmail.com
Wednesday at Snatch is Model Mayhem. As for the fashion, the crowd seems to be pretty fashionable and there are models floating around, but I’d also go for the music because DJ Gunars mashes it up sexy.
Thursday spend your evening at the monthly LoweDown Happy Hour at the Lowe Art Museum. Mix it up with the artsy fashionable types. This month the celebrations are for Cinco De Mayo with live mariachi, light Mexican fare and Corona beer and the full bar provided by Bacardi. Admission is $5.
PS 14 host a new Friday night party called Loop and this week they celebrate Bjork’s new album Vota. Why is this a fashion event? For one, PS 14 guest usually have the downtown cool of chic thrift and high end labels. But also Bjork is not only a music wonder, but she’s a fashion icon. Clones of the Icelandic Princess will roam the backyard where the listening party can be heard by guest who show up early. I expect to see the goose and the geisha. PS 14 is located at 28 NE 14th Street, Miami. There will be early (10 pm to 12 am) drink specials and then turn around and do another one for late comers (3 to 5 am). 18 +, cover is $10.
Fashion is always an event - enjoy!
