Dearest Fashionistas,

Last week I went to The Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island for a special Zac Posen Show. Fantastic, but I had seen the show in NY back in September so after all the hellos and air kisses, champagne and caviar, fashion watching and monitoring of guest, I decided to call it an early night.

I had to save it all for Saturday for the not open yet, White Room in Miami for the national competition: Style Wars by House of Diehl. It’s not just a fashion show, but for those who are creative in their style and look. Give me a pair of scissors, some spray paint and netting, honey…

Style Wars is a version of a gay ball with categories, time and music but instead of walking or vogueing, the individual or dare I say, house (a group of people under one name), and right there on the spot, make an outfit, do a look and create art.

Here in Miami, Karelle Levy of KRELwear won the contest, but a very close second was Paul – a New Yorker and a new face in the Miami fashion and art scene. Congrats to both for a great showdown.

There are two stores that have opened on the beach, one Guapa off Lincoln Road on Michigan (check our Fashion section for a write up on that) and the other is the high end sneaker boutique located on 225 Collins Avenue. I did not visit the store yet, but my fashion police has reported their collection is a feast for the eyes for any and all sneaker junkies.

Need to wax the brows? A Grand Opening of Uni.K.Wax in Coral Gables (165 Aragon Avenue) will take place this Thursday, November 15, from 7 pm to 10 pm. Enjoy cocktails and possible bites and while you are there, get a complimentary waxing treatments for him and her, so you will be fresh and ready for the weekend.
