Above: What dreams are made of...Pucci ballons, dresses and champagne.
Last week it was like the WMC for the art world. Day and night there were open bars, music, artistic performances, parties, poolside events, art talks and art walks, sales, and even a boxing match - that it was just enough for me to stay in the rest of the week.
This includes fashion people.
With so many artistic types from all over the world including Japan, UK and Germany, styles and designers varied like a huge candy shop and I couldn’t stop myself from people watching.
At the Vanguard exhibit party, ladies did it up with colored hair or wigs, tattoos and Christian Louboutin shoes. Gens represented wearing dark suits with dress shirts and hats which is always a great accessory.
Then we had the hipsters over at The Raleigh Hotel for Cocorosie and the on the beach for Iggy Pop on Wednesday night where kids from Miami and around the world came out to rock. I met international fashionistas who wore designers like Elm Design from Iceland, Keita Maruyama from Japan and New High Mart from LA.
On Friday morning, I attended one of the most exclusive events of Art Base. Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Emilio Pucci, visual artist Gerard Cholot created a world of dreams at the home of Norma Quintero in Miami Beach.
As you entered the ballroom, the floating Pucci fabric balloons swayed around the room to the sounds of the live piano. Brunch was held in the yard under an enormous white tent with Pucci covered furniture and pillows. I melted into my blush champagne and mingled with the Miami socialites who all wore, including myself, some kind of Pucci garment.
Then we have all the fashionable celebrity sightings. Paris Hilton (who was spotted at Space), the oh-so-cute-but-so-sexy Lucy Liu, Russell Simmons and now my ultra favorite crazy celebrity but lover her for that – Ms. KLS herself, Kimora Lee Simmons wore all in town sharing their work and some wearing their own brands.
Ms. Fabulousity was in town for the Art Basel KLS event with W Magazine and Scoop last Thursday. While I had to work another event, my friend Joseph, pictured here on the left, made it his mission to get into that party if that was the only thing he did. I was there in spirit.
From high fashion to alley way finds, the fashion was high on the list of guest roaming the streets of Art Basel Miami. Alrighty then, this was my unofficial wrap up of Art Basel Fashion Watch. Till the next thread…
