What better way to get in shape for Stacy Kidd and Osunlade this weekend than a Friday nite session with Mixmaster DJ Chris as he takes us on a journey into the House that Chris Built. He is, undisputably the local griot of house music, and if you listen very carefully, you can hear the love...

Amendment XXI - 46th St & NE 2nd Avenue - 10 pm until...
No cover. Great food. Great Drinks.
Happy hour from 7 to 10 pm

DJ CHRIS: THE STATS

DJ Chris is originally from Brooklyn, New York. He first got interested in music at age seven after hearing a Stevie Wonder song and music played by the Salsoul Orchestra. While growing up in NY, he was surrounded by a variety of musical influences from Jazz to Blues to Latin and Disco. He started professionally deejaying in high school and played gigs at high school parties, college parties, house parties and outdoor events all over the New York and New Jersey area. His musical influences include Larry Levan, Tony Humphries, Club Zanzibar, Frankie Knuckles, Sound Factory, Tee Scott, Ted Patterson, Timmy Regisford and Larry Patterson. In the mid-eighties, he played at Club Zanzibar, Cosmos, Mirage, Black Box, Club Americas, Charade, Peppermint, The Underground, New Experience and Better Days.

He moved to Batimore in 1999 where he deejayed at Paradox with the Basement Boys, Ted Douglas, DJ Spinn, Karizma, Pope and Oji.

DJ Chris continued his journey to Miami in 2001. His Upper Room Thursday Party at Jazid was the place to be for 2006. As a resident of the Residence Party crew, he continued to represent for the house underground over the course of 14 monthly warehouse parties from Oct. 2005-March 2007. You can hear DJ Chris every Thursday from 8-10 pm on www.thewomb.com. He currently holds a weekly residency at Amendment XXI, in the Art Design District, every Friday from 10 pm until. In July he will begin a new residency as part of a new monthly Afrobeat party.

Genuinely warm and down to earth, these vibes come through when you experience a DJ Chris set. As a result, he is introducing house music to a new, younger audience on a local level. And that's why we call him the House Griot.
