The new trend for Halloween is to bring your kids to the mall where it is supposedly a safer place for kids to spend there Halloween (though very untraditional). It actually a better place becuz all the kids can show off their outfits better. There were so many cute kids!! We get there at 6:00 and the mall is full of kids all over the place and all the shops have signs up saying 'they are out of candy'... That's such 'bullshit!!! They should know better to have candy and to be prepared every year for this one day! People have been bringing their kids to the mall or Halloween now for about 20 years accross the country. And to those of you who say that it's not the obligation for stores to hand out candy on Halloween........ ...BULLSHIT!!! I drop so much money at the mall along with all the other patrons who bring their kids there to congregate, the least they can do is have candy to give to the thousands of kids that were there and that will go home empty handed and dissapointed... Most of these people probably don't have power in their neighborhoods which makes it more unsafe to have their kids Trick Or Treating in dark streets... The shops could have anticipated this and welcomed all the kids with opened arms instead of turning them away or putting up cold paper signs saying 'Sorry no candy'... If it weren't for us shoppers those shops would be out of business and all those retailers would be out of jobs.. They are only nice to us when they want to make their commission....BS!!! > > > > > >![]()

But still the malls are aware of this trend and should be ready for it. If the shops themselves aren't going to pay for candy then the mall should supply the shops with enough candy. And the retails and their sales people have no excuse not to pass out candy and say that it's not their job to do so. Well you want to know what? No one was shopping in the shops. All the sales people were standing there in the windows doing nothing but watching all the kids go by and leaving one store after another dissapointed. So we decided to leave the mall and take my little girl Trick or Treating in my neighborhood and you know what happened? Right when we drove into our driveway, the power in our area go's out for about 3 hours... So my little girl (well I'll admit, 'ME') only got 2 pieces of candy. Of which I didn't see a bite. She ate one and my girl ate the other while I was upstairs looking for a flashlight..They had a Kit Kat and an Almond joy dammit...!!! :'( :'( :'( :'(

| Sorry about your Aventura misadventure, Terry. Considering what's happened to south Florida lately, it's disappointing that the stores didn't make a sincere effort to provide a better Halloween experience for the kids. Our neighborhood actually had some trick-or-treaters, which is a bit surprising since we lost our power again (sigh) and there are still power lines (big ones) and tree branches all over the place. The people on our end of the block set out jack-o-lanterns with candles so people walking down the street would know we were "doing" Halloween, even without electricity. Because so many of our neighbors are gone, we all made a point of giving out ridiculous amounts of candy to the kids who came by.
