What's different about what these kids did? Who says "straight-thuggin" has to be a black thing? http://maroon.uchicago.edu/news/arti...ed_dorm_pa.php Remember when Miami sponsored a "ghetto-style" picnic complete with a Watermelon-eating contest? http://www.strangecosmos.com/content/item/109152.html

| Thats just stupid.....that means that all those black people were admitting that they are ghetto. I had a friend (that is black) and he used to call other black guys nigger. I was like WTF??? His response: "White people got niggers too."

| You sure your black friend was not saying 'Nigga'? There is a big difference between 'Nigga' and 'Nigger'.....

[/quote] I never did understand that. I've heard people rationalize that too. "Hey man, I'm saying it with an 'a' on the end...not an "e-r"..." : ![]()

| HipJunkie | One big difference.... MTV is a corporate entity...besides the rules on language and nudity, they can put whatever they want on their station and if sponsors continue to advertise on it, then everything is hunky dory... In this case....and I quote the article... "A source who did not wish to be identified said that the event was approved by housing, but that some within the house had expressed concern over the particular theme several days before the party. Like any other dormitory party, the event was registered with the Resident Heads (R.H.s)." Because the students registered the party, and it was approved by housing and located on the actual University grounds, that University is legally binded to whatever goes on there...and therefore liable. It also sounds like although not confirmed by the article, that the organizers of the party were not African American, and several African American students were offended by some of the comments of the students that attended when they talked after the party.
