Cheney shoots friend in hunting accident

Washington (dpa) - US Vice President Dick Cheney wounded a member of his hunting party in an accidental shooting on a Texas ranch, Fox News reported Sunday.

Harry Whittington, a prominent Texas lawyer and supporter of Cheney's centre-right Republican Party, suffered shotgun pellet wounds and was taken to a hospital in Corpus Christi, where he was being treated for non-life threatening wounds.

The accident occurred Saturday during a quail hunting trip on the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas.

Ranch owner Katharine Armstrong told Fox News that she saw the shooting from a distance. She said that Whittington, 78, was "peppered pretty good" but treated immediately by Cheney's security and medical staff who were waiting nearby, Fox News reported.

Cheney, who has a long history of serious heart problems, is regularly accompanied by a medical team.

Don't you remember Kerry going on the hunting trip just before the 2004 elections? The photo op w/ Kerry trying to appeal to the southern hunters?

"100% Republican?"........LOL

You beat me to the punch....that was Kerry's famous photo op, and liberals thought it was genius!! But when Cheney holds a gun, I guess its disturbing. If that makes him 100% Republican, I guess that makes Kerry 100% a flip-flopper.

Actually, this happened to friend of mine here @ work. He was out by Krome Ave. hunting for pigeons w/ like 4 other guys. A bird came flying out of the grass, as he tracked the bird and fired, the bird flew right into the path of another friend and co-worker. My friend basically "peppered" the other guy. The guy had about 15 pellets stuck in his forearm and face. He pulled his arm up to protect his face which is how he got the bb's in his arm. The bb's eventually get rejected by the body and they get "spit" out like a zit over time.

They actually pepper each other when the hunting gets shitty(just for fun..NOT that I condone it, but I do GET IT) and there's no birds to shoot. They aim the shotgun in the air just over the other guy and shoot, spraying bb's which rain down on the other guy.
At point blank range, you'll kill someone 4 sure!.
At a distance, you "might" take someones eye out.
Just thought I'd bring a little perspective to the issue for all the "anti-gun" folks who might not fully understand.

Some people hear "shot w/ a gun" and immediatly have visions of SCARFACE.

Remember, guns don't kill, people do! LOL
BANG-BANG

I don't hunt, but I have no problem w/ hunters.
So many more people hunt than most in urban areas would ever imagine. Those who live in urban concrete jungles where the only game is tunnel rats probably don't "get" hunters. But, being that most of those critics are "liberal", I would suggest practicing "TOLERANCE", rather than trying to ban something they don't agree or don't understand.

Hunting is hard. It requires skill. Besides, most hunters eat their deer or quail, or give away what they won't eat to others, just like fishermen.
