As you may know, Congress recently passed a temporary ban on horse slaughter which is now threatened by officials at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA, with its ties to the livestock industry, says it will not implement this Congressional mandate. Please contact your Senators and Representative and urge them to cosponsor the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (S. 1915/H.R. 503) to permanently end the slaughter of our horses for human consumption abroad. Background Americans do not eat horsemeat. However, thousands of horses are slaughtered every year to satisfy an overseas market for horsemeat. Horses are slaughtered in the United States to be served on dinner plates in countries such as France, Belgium, and Japan. Last year, more than 90,000 American horses were either killed in one of three foreign-owned slaughterhouses in the United States or shipped to Canada or Mexico for slaughter. Every year, our thoroughbreds, show horses, mustangs, carriage horses, and family ponies are shipped in inhumane conditions and butchered, despite the special place these animals hold in American history. Horses helped settle this country. For 400 years, they were a primary means of transport and to this day they are still beloved companions to millions. What You Can Do Please call and email your two U.S. Senators and Representative today and urge them to become co-sponsors of the “American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act” (S.1915/H.R. 503). You can reach your members of Congress by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. If you’re not sure who your lawmakers are visit http://www.senate.gov/ and http://www.house.gov. For more information or if you have any questions contact info@api4animals.org. Thank you for speaking out for the horses!

| Yes we do! In fact even though I'm a vegetarian I do make exceptions for dogs. I love me some roasted dog. That's why I went and adopted one from the pound about 3 years ago. She's been hanging out at my house all this time so I can fatten her up for the prime meal! My mouth just waters with hunger every moment I look at my dog. In fact I just gave her a bath to clean her coat. We have their skin for desert. I think I'm going to skin up my dog tonight and slap her on the grill with some terryaki marinade now that you mentioned it. You want some? I usually eat around 5PM..
