MIAMI -- Customs officials at Miami International Airport said they found a dead bird in a man's luggage on Wednesday night.

The man was stopped after getting off an Alitalia flight that originated in Nigeria.

Customs agents said they found the dead bird wrapped up with dirt. The man told them he brought the bird to the United States for a religious service.

Officials said the bird was confiscated and the man was released after questioning.
