They look at conditions(H2O temp in the Atlantic, jetstream, etc.) and creat models based on these conditions. These models give forecasters an idea of what the hurricane season will look like for 2006.

It is similiar to the path maps that are created when a hurricane forms. It shows your what is likely going to happen but nothing is 100% until you feel the wind smack you in the face.

sounds like what people in the construction industry would call "s.w.a.g." a Shitty Wild Ass Guess. they should let us know when they learn how to predict with 100% accuracy, otherwise this is as worthless and vague as it gets.

Exactly...which is why "educated" guesses like this piss me off, because, they really do not have any idea where hurricanes will hit before the season begins. Yet, doom and gloomers will want to believe it and create hysteria over it.
