They look at conditions(H2O temp in the Atlantic, jetstream, etc.) and creat models based on these conditions. These models give forecasters an idea of what the hurricane season will look like for 2006. It is similiar to the path maps that are created when a hurricane forms. It shows your what is likely going to happen but nothing is 100% until you feel the wind smack you in the face.

| Exactly...which is why "educated" guesses like this piss me off, because, they really do not have any idea where hurricanes will hit before the season begins. Yet, doom and gloomers will want to believe it and create hysteria over it.
