Can we start suing the car companies for every car accident that occurs? I mean, does anyone take responsibility for anything anymore? http://news.tbo.com/news/nationworld/MGB8F760IOE.html

| CoolJunkie | In America, all we do is blame people for everything. Nobody wants to take responsibility for anything. It's ingrained in American culture. To NOT sue is almost considered un-American. This is why we have all this unnecessary clutter in the courtrooms. We always try to find solutions to mistakes, but we never focus on preventing the slip-ups in the first place. When looking at the situation from a purely objective point of view, The kid's parents are 100% responsible. They are a bunch of morons for letting him near the damn thing in the first place. The manufacturer is not at fault and should counter sue them for being so dumb. WTF??

| CoolJunkie | You can't blame the parents in this case. This kid was at a daycare center where it happened. It was the husband of the woman watching the child who was at fault, for not using safety precautions with the mower. They are pusuing a seperate suit against the daycare, but that is where all the fault lies and should be directed, rather than the manufacturer.

| CoolJunkie | Exactly. Sue the guy who shot your loved one, or sue the retailer who sold him the gun without a background check, or who sold it to an obvious drunk man in a rage.

| Non Sufficit Orbis | Any dealer I know will not sell a weapon to someone in an "otherwise than normal" mental state. Sound business practice. Why make a quick $500 bucks and risk losing your business altogether? I'd tell him to scram and wait for the next sane customer to come in.

| CoolJunkie | It's funny how you guys think you get to choose who gets the blame. In any case, the company *should* design a mower that stops the blades when anything bumps the blade guard. That woulda stopped the blades from damaging him. Of course, the idiot driving the thing should have been paying attention. And the other idiot inside leaving a 4 year old free near a riding lawn-mower should have been paying attention. There is NO way I would "seeking an out-of-court settlement with the Reedys." I would prosecute their ass for manslaughter. (Childslaughter?)
