Dude, this I totally agree with you on. I can't watch the video from work (too slow connection), but I can just imagine. I've been through it more than once. Totally ridiculous.

When I cancelled my AOL a few years ago they "warned" me that my current internet provider would hit me with "hidden" charges for some sites I access...WTF???

AOL IS, HAS and WILL always be the absolutely worst piece of shit software you can install on your computer. Oh, and don't try removing it from your computer, it's impossible, it gets into your registry...In short it's like installing a virus on your PC. I stopped using AOL 5 years ago and never turned back.

Been there done that, with AOhell. Several years ago I had Compuserve, which was owned by AOL, and I had direct billing with them. I cancelled when I got broadband, and I went through the same kind of hassle with the girl on the phone. After all was said and done, it was another two months when I realized that they had debited me for the prior two months of service which I had already cancelled, and I had to go through another argument with them to get my money back. The girl persuaded me to accept a month free service as appreciation for my years of prior service, and I kept telling her that I did not want for free what I had no intention of using anyway. Finally she convinced me to just take the month, and see if I changed my mind. I told her I had no intention of changing my mind, but finally said "Whatever" and ended the call.

Guess what happened next? You can see this one coming. After the month "free trial" ended, they automatically resumed billing me. Free month of appreciation my ass, it was a free trial that turned into automatic service, and I had to fight them again to cut ties with them completely and get yet another month's fees returned.

AOL is also one of the biggest polluters in the area of junk mail! All those damm CD's that the send you and try to sign you up by giving you 987 free minutes online.. All those CD's and the metals in the CD's are very bad for the environment when they end up in land fills!!! > >

Word. And those CDs are a fraud anyway. They say something like 1200 free hours but its actually a limit of 45 days. And even if you had your computer on and logged on tro the net for 24 hours a day you'd only have used up less than that. Point being, most people use their computers 2 or 3 hours a night so 1200 free hours in that limited time frame is pointless.

You should see how many calls a particular phone company gets every day about how AOL is billing the customers on their phone bill without customers having given authorization to be billed or having ever used the service.
