Okay, Atlantic Broadband sucks huge shit. They are now consistently having little mini-outs. This interrupts my internet radio and my online gaming. They last like 2-30 seconds, but fuck everything up. And happen like a dozen times a day.

Here is the deal. We get a bundled package with our cable TV, so we save some decent bread. But I am sick of their shit service, shit support, and shit attitude. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives? Both for internet and for TV. Thanks!

(PS: No, I'm not moving. I want Miami Beach options.)

Covad DSL is rock-solid around here.

I've been having the exact same issue since we moved to Brickell. I think our broadband is owned by Atlantic BB. It pisses me off, I can't even go on Myspace with out my connection freezing up. I'm about a day or 2 away from switching to DSL, the only issue is that I will be paying $70 vs the $50 I'm paying now.

Brickell is a Comcast area.
Atlantic only services the Beach and South Miami.

no it's definately not Comcast, I was told that this generic broad band company was owned by Atlantic.

I've got a Speakeasy DSL line at Lincoln and Meridian that has had zero downtime over the last year and a half, and it's stupid fast. Not just fast but also very low latency, so it runs multiple Vonage lines no problem, iChat video conferencing, Quake, Half Life, Warcraft, important stuff like that. The Speakeasy people are really cool, they resell Covad access.

I also have a Bellsouth DSL at home with the super mondo high speed option. Much lower reliability. Lower speed. Higher latency. It did stay up and running the whole time during and after Wilma so it's still very reliable but just not as good as Speakeasy/Covad.

Getting the Speakeasy line installed sucked and took weeks because Covad, Speakeasy and Bellsouth all have to cooperate to make it happen. It was worth it in the end because now I have a direct fat pipe to the Miami NAP.

Yes, you can verify that here. Real happy with the Speakeasy customer service too, more than BellSouth. Speakeasy techs are laid-back California slackers instead of Pakistani people in call centers, and they're unusually helpful and competent. They have a VoIP service too but I just use Vonage so I don't know if it's good or not.

In general, the resellers cover where the primary provider goes.
