| I'm all 4 securing the border. If it were up to me. I would build a 30 ft high wall surrounded by trenches with spikes at the bottom of them...

And any strategy that involves totally fencing off the entire border is impractical and therefore not worth discussing. Even President Bush says, "I don't think anybody believes that you could totally fence off the border and be effective." When Rush Limbaugh talks about building an Israeli-style security perimeter with land mines and electric fences and automatic machine guns, he's playing to the Republican base who are more willing to embrace racism and isolationism than progress. We did do one thing recently that was just silly. If we don't have a problem with Mexicans coming here, just the fact that they're coming here illegally, then why did we close the loophole that made it illegal to cross over the border but not illegal to cross under the border? See we should have left the loophole because it would have cut down on crime statistics. Election year and all.
