"Instead of a plan or a strategy, we get shallow slogans like 'mission accomplished' and 'stay the course,'" former Army Capt. Tammy Duckworth said in the Democrats' weekly radio address. "Those slogans are calculated to win an election. But they won't help us accomplish our mission in Iraq." Duckworth's address served as a response to the president's weekly radio talk and gave the Democratic Party a chance to showcase one of its strongest candidates as it seeks to regain control of the House in November's elections. Duckworth, who copiloted a Black Hawk helicopter that crashed while under a rocket grenade attack almost two years ago, also criticized Bush and others in his administration for accusing anyone who challenges the president's policies of "cutting and running." "Well, I didn't cut and run, Mr. President. Like so many others, I proudly fought and sacrificed," Duckworth said. "My helicopter was shot down long after you proclaimed 'mission accomplished.'" At a GOP fundraiser Thursday in Alabama, Bush said, "The party of FDR and the party of Harry Truman has become the party of cut and run." Duckworth is seeking the suburban Chicago seat being vacated by conservative Republican Rep. Henry Hyde. She is running against Illinois state Sen. Peter Roskam, the man Hyde has endorsed. In her address, Duckworth, now a major in the Illinois National Guard, also lashed out at the GOP-led Congress for refusing to do its job of holding the Bush administration accountable for its flawed Iraq policy. "We need a Congress that will ask the tough questions and work together for solutions rather than attacking the patriotism of those who disagree," she said. "It is time to encourage Iraqi leaders to take control of their own county and make the tough choices that will stop the civil war and stabilize the country." She offered no proposal for an immediate withdrawal or a timetable for withdrawal. |

| It must be frustrating to some in the Bush Administration that they cannot "swift boat" her. I am no Democrat but if the Democrats wanted to win the White House in 2008, she would be a good candidate. |

| At a GOP fundraiser Thursday in Alabama, Bush said, "The party of FDR and the party of Harry Truman has become the party of cut and run." Asshole! The democrates in the 20th century have done more for this country than any Republican has ever done (if you dare to ask I will tell you why my thinking is just that!). The "Conservative" Republican party is the party of the Army of God who KILLS abortion workers, the KKK and Neo Nazis, and the RICH. FDR and Truman moved forward and won the war against this country's, and the world's, first greatest enemies! |

| CoolJunkie | It's just doublespeak. Republicans are twisting the fact that they have no plan into a slogan that says that the other side has no plan. Turning something into its exact opposite is doublespeak in its most classic form, illustrating the concept of "doublethink" from 1984 that's behind the war slogans used by The Party, "WAR IS PEACE" and "FREEDOM IS SLAVERY". Do those meaningless slogans look familiar? Those two slogans remind me of justifying the American invasion of Iraq by simply saying "AMERICA IS SAFER" and providing no other justification, or opposing public debate about Iraq policy with "SUPPORT THE TROOPS". The Republican plan on Iraq is to keep doing what Bush has been doing which we can see isn't working. They don't have any other plan. For three years they have slapped down any Democratic attempt to challenge The Plan or propose other plans with slogans like "SUPPORT THE TROOPS" and "DON'T CUT AND RUN". Now they are hoping that repetition of slogans can twist "Republican have no plan other than the one that has failed" into "Democrats have no plan". Isn't it pretty stale to fail and then blame your opposition for it, for not fighting you hard enough?

| Sure why not, our government was designed to be run by people who have no exprience in Politics, and do not have to be part of an ellite family to run for office. Has to do with the little thing we call democracy and the constitution. Its called having a free and deomcractic system where people run and the people have the right to choose.
