A rookie manager himself, Girardi won easily despite Florida's losing record. He received 18 of 32 first-place votes and totaled 111 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Willie Randolph of the New York Mets was second with eight first-place votes and 81 points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- What a shame...to lose this guy all due to Loria's ego, this guy could of been with the organization for the long haul..loved his managing style.
