Top Democrats ok with troop increase in Iraq

We might as well erect our own giant base there in Iraq because we are gonna need it when we have to go into Iran.

My plan would call for lowering troop levels or at least pushing more and more troops out of harms way in favor of the Iraqi's taking over, we can't be there forever. I rather have a increase in violence and the Iraqis assume security than our troops having to stand in harms way for a bunch of idiots who don't want to fight for their own freedom. I think if we annouced we are lowering troops levels I think the Iraqis will respond and realize we are leaving very soon.

I'm almost in favor of increasing our troop levels in the short term (for a period of 6-8 months) to apply a large surge of military force aginast the insurgence.

It might be better for everyone in the long run since the current troop levels are obviously not enough to combat the current crisis there.

I'm all for keeping your brother longer in Fallujah so we can defeat these terrorist. Now is not the time to cut and run. If we don't fight the war over there then the war could be fought here. Iraq is a threat to our national security. So if your brother has to do 2 or 3 tours in Iraq... so be it. We have to stay the course.

'Stay The Course'? Who do you think you are now? President Bush circa September 2006?

I think it shows how out of touch the democrats are with situation there. Plus they would say anything to get elected. ;D

To increase the number of troops would just be another mistake.

More troops = more targets

Troops have already spent more than enough time training the Iraqis. Marines train for 13 weeks and are ready for war right after basic. I know we can't expect the Iraqis to be ready in 13 weeks but it's been a little past 13 weeks since it all started.

The best option would be leave all together but we all know that's not going to happen anytime soon. Campaign promises are a bitch regardless of which party.
