| "What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?" - High Fidelity

| CoolJunkie | dude my sis is so into that emo rock and i was like fucking ay, why is it cool to them...i got dragged to be babysitter with a group of 15-17 year old girls to a concert and that bad was horrible singing about these unpleasant things. i just dont see what appeal the youth has into it. needless to say im totally pushing the prissy gril look on my sis, although she hates it. i hope she will get out of that phase soon now that shes turning 18, i really do think that music brainwashes those poor kids....she even has a friend who commited suicide so i totally think there is some connection...your defintely on to something pod. that would make a great study, maybe i should undertake it as a phd student, where to find the money though.

| Can someone give me an example of emo rock? I mean you would have thought suicides would have gone up when Marilyn Manson hit the scene, but they didn't. Has to be some other cause.

Divorces are up. Do you think that kids feel alienated and unloved due to this at all? More so than emo? | |
