It'll never pass. People get hit by cars everyday in NYC; it doesn't matter if they're listening to an iPod, walking their dog, jogging in place, etc. This is a classic case of overreacting on the part of a lawmaker. Maybe they should ban city buses too because they pancake at least 8-10 people a year on the reg.

Nothing passes unless Bloomberg likes it anyway

I dont think this will hold up at all. What are they going to do put a cop at every crosswalk?

LOL point taken but that a little different. That don't include 500,000 cops to watch the bathrooms.

Good point but there are very few MTA bathrooms and other than Penn Station you're likely to get hepititus if you use them. Weird but not surprising when you consider that NYC is the weirdest place on Earth. Where else can you see a guy smoking weed on the subway, peeing atthem people on the sidewalk, and reading a newspaper upside down all in the same day?

granted NYC is the weirdest place but also the coolest place in the world!!! Yeah I almost got hit by a cab crossing the street once when I lived there but I wasn't listening to anything...some cabbie just turned the corner too quick and didn't see me...LOL I don't think a law will pass anytime soon.....plus it was fun throwing shit at the cab when I got pissed off at him.....I would live there again in a heart beat!!! ;D

8)

You got that right, NYC is DEF not for everyone. I think what they need to do is pass a law about STUPIDITY. Its not pepole listening to ipods and being on phones that gets them killed, its STUPID people listening to ipods and being on phones. Why do we have to keep makeing laws that allow people to throw common sense to the wind? I mean when i was a kid it was drummed in my head to look left, right then left again and make sure there were no cars. When did this not become the intelligent thing to do when crossing the street?

C'mon people....everyone is so gung-ho about making stupid laws like this when in all reality we are TOTALLY MISSING THE POINT.

The collective IQ of America is rapidly plummetting. Reading something that stupid has made me feel "stupider" even. Am i the only one that sees this trend?
