| About 1/2 hour into the Grammy's I was thinking the same thing. They had real talent performing and the winners, for the most part, really deserved the award. I turned it off around 10pm, but up until that point it was truly a great awards show. I could've done without Mary J. Blige trying to force her "story" onto us all night, almost like she had the morning news shows in mind when she dropped all her "rags to riches" one-liners. And now onto my political twist of the whole thing... I was quite surprised the Dixie Chicks won the best country album considering 99% of country music fans hate them. They even acted like 10 year old kids on stage mocking their own genre's fans (complete with a Simpson's impersonation) after they won their award. I'd be interested to see how they do at the Country Music Awards....probably not so well, which begs the question, are they really the best country act out there? Or is their anti-Bush speeches so popular with the people in the Academy of Recording Artists, that they voted for politics over talent? I think its the latter. They won EVERY award they were nominated for. They're a talented group, but they're about as country as Sheryl Crow. I think the Academy was just trying to make a statement and the Dixie Chicks are the perfect poster girls to do so.

| You're comparing apples to oranges. Of course the CMA's don't have shit on the Grammy's since the Grammy's have alot more money behind them. But for country music fans, the CMA's are far more credible as to the success and popularity of an artist and I'm willing to bet they come up empty at those awards. Especially after mocking their "fan base" on national TV last night.
