Default "Ugly" defendants more likely to be convicted

Interesting headline. Why not, "Pretty people more likely to be falsely accused"?

Ugly defendants 'more likely to be found guilty than attractive ones'

Good looks could help guilty defendants dodge justice, researchers have said.

They reported that in an experiment jurors were more likely to convict suspects deemed ugly than those seen as attractive.

It is thought that the principle applies elsewhere in life, with beauty being associated with kindness, intelligence and sporting ability.

Slapped more often, in general.

Cool, thanks for the link. I always wondered how to get sexually harrassed.

What if the jury had a bunch of ugly people on it? Wouldnt that in fact make them jealous of the good looking person?

A few years ago I was called up for jury selection and when I sat there I couldn't keep my eyes off of the female defendant. I mean, I didn't know she was the defendant at first, I had thought she was a member of the legal team. It was a man and woman who were accused of dealing, so there were a number of lawyers and assistants and what not, working together. And this woman, dark hair, latin, olive skin, was stunning and I couldn't help checking her out. When the prosecutor asked me if I could be fair and impartial in my judgements, I told him yes absolutely, but that I couldn't imagine that fine looking chick with the shapely knockers to be guilty at all. She was simply too foxy to be guilty.

I wasn't picked for jury duty. I don't know why. I would have made a good jurist.

A rather more provocative thought would be to imagine her in the slammer with 20 other butch women.
