Can someone please explain to me the ways of the news channels???? SO, I realize that there are stattions that are more left than right...I suppose, but at my bar two regulars of mine are sooooo Republican that I thought they were going to shoot me when I said I put on the Today Show in the morning when I am getting ready to go to work???

I have heard from friends at school that the fox news channel is the worst channel to watch....didn't really understand why...untill my good ole regualrs were like WHAAAAT?? That is the only station that tells the truth blah blah.....I never knew people had such strong opinions about what news station to watch!! So I am assuming that Fox swings more to the right???

So, can someone give me a break down and tell me what station to watch so I can hear both sides maybe ???

LOL....good question.

First of all, media bias is a VERY real thing. In American media there is only one Fox News compared with the onslaught of leftist outlets like NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, HDNET, newspapers everywhere, magazines, and Hollywood. Anything down the middle, or balanced, would seem like a right-wing fanatical station compared to the rest since liberalism is the norm among journalists....

Think about journalism schools, very liberal, all of them. When surveyed, TV journalists overwhelmingly (91%) say they vote Democrat. So you have liberals who want to change the world out there claiming to be unbiased, but unfortunately they can't help themselves. Unlike the Today Show and others, people like Hannity and O'Reilly aren't pretending to be down the middle....they are blatantly right-wing, but the viewers understand that at least. When you watch the Today Show, most people assume it's down the middle, so left-wing ideals embraced on that program can be spoon-fed to you without you realizing it.

Consider this, if every other outlet is left-wing and Fox News is the only station down the center....of course it'll seem right-wing, from a leftist's perspective. Fox News is not a conservative news station, they just lean more to the right than the rest of the pack..."Fair and balanced"? Hardly, it'll take 10 Fox News stations to offset the media bias that already exists out there...

funny that you mention journalists wanting to change the world...that is verbatim what they said! Like I mentioned I watch CNN...and I happen to like Nancy Grace. They flipped out on me hehe...I really don't follow THAT closely who is what...so I go into it somewhat blindI suppose...I kind of like her because she is a "woman voice" that sticks up for women and children rights...but according to my regulars she is a moron....

I don't mind their opinion but I don't really like their attitudes towards telling me what to watch...I know this may sound niave but I wish there were news reporters out there that wanted to report exactly what happens...why is that so hard to do???

The same reason you would have a hard time reporting news that puts women or children's rights in a negative light. Think about something you strongly believe in. Could you report something that blows a hole in everything you believe in? It would be tough, wouldn't it? Your biases would surface, whether you think so or not.

Those guys are right, journalists (when surveyed in school) chose their career to "change the world". Their job is not to change the world, but simply to report it as it unfolds. To report news, not make news. I wouldn't go so far as to tell people what to watch, you're free to watch whatever you want. Just be mindful of the biases so-called journalists have. I watch Fox, but I also watch CNN and the Today Show. I keep it "fair and balanced" for myself, whereas most people only flock to those news stations that confirm what they already believe....

All news channels suck. I usually watch fox news because of the hosts and they do have some good shows. Although fox is known as a conservative channel they do have libreral ding bats like Geraldo and the colms guy who I call the praying mantis. Also I like Neil Cavuto, Sheperd Smith, Sean Hannity, and Bill Oreilly is entertaining. Greta seems to always want shows on missing people and natalie holloway.

Depends on the school, certainly not Harvard or West Pointe. As a general rule, yes, the world of academia is full of "enlightened" liberals who use their platform to "enlighten" everyone else (change the world mentality). Even the textbooks are chosen with those views in mind. Be careful to challenge these types. I know from experience, it DOES affect your grade.

In my MBA program at Nova, I've encountered a few pastors of liberal thought (my business law and human resource professors come to mind), however, the rest of my program has been fairly balanced (not leaning one way or the other, at least not in class).

I can argue both sides of any issue. Sure, I lean to the right...but curiosity compels me to seek out other viewpoints, such as those offered here on these boards believe it or not. In some cases, I may offer a viewpoint I don't necessarily support, but offer it for the entertainment of watching everyone else short-circuit themselves over it.

LOL...definitely NOT Harvard....I didn't think about those schools....I was just thinking about the schools I have been to...Harvard hehehe...anyway...I have my own issues with that one...u probably know me well enough to know what those are....I have to say my sociology teacher was definitely left...which was cool...then that same semester I had a professor for political science that was woah right.....which was cool too cause I got to hear both sides. It was funny to hear them argue about same subjects even though they were not in the room together.

I remember going to a free function at PBCC where Planned Parenthood came in to talk about some issues before last ig election we had. I went just to observe, not really join in on the debate. I figured there would be total support....because at first I thought pretty much all young people were liberals(I didn't really know much back then haha)...come to my surprise....MAN...there were ALOT of young people who were really against Planned Parenthood and stood up to talk with like a list of shit to debate them!

That was definitely a turning point for me...I was getting involved and learned alot by just standing back and listening...as much as I had to chain my mouth shut...I even went to a rally for the democrats in downtown west palm one time just to see what it was all about...and I saw alot of young people who were there supporting Bush. I happened to be standing by myself right behind them...and started talking to them...they were wearing all this Bush stuff, which was weird....so the dems labeled my in with the kids...I was like holy shit...I felt like Frankenstein getting chased by torches haha....I left before I even got to see the candidate....people were arguing and getting all crazy.....fun shit...

College is typically a hotbed of liberal ideas, since students are in the unique position of being "adults', but having the shield of the university so they have the time and the information to explore and execute liberal concepts. Be it the ever popular BUG syndrome (Bi Until Graduation) with the GGW set, or the whole massive influx to such movements as the Communist Party of the USA, your typical post-secondary educational institution resembles a mix of the Great Library of Alexandria, Woodstock, and Burning Man. In other words, a lot of knowledge, free flow of ideas, and corporate shills masquerading as liberation.

For example, the bulk of most charity organizations tend to be the idle rich, and students as slave labor. Your thirtysomething workaday office drone is not going to be involved in PETA, the vegan movement, or Greenpeace. They simply don't have the time or the money to contribute.

True change in any facet of society doesn't come from students or the idle rich. The true changes come from "professional revolutionaries", the people who know how to infiltrate and work within the current system to institute change from within.

Other than the groundbreaking accomplishments of Dr. King, Malcom X, and other civil rights leaders of the '60s and '70s, nothing has really changed in the overall discourse of American society.

Look to other countries, and see who changes things the most. Students? Hah, they're usually too busy doing drugs. The true changes in those societies have come from dedicated, disciplined, and professional revolutionaries. For good or for ill, they got their goals.

Take Castro. He's a fucktard with a fibreglass colon, but you know what, he did what he set out to do, and he's managed to flout the efforts of the world's only remaining superpower for almost half a century.
