Roth Set for 'Heroes' Spin-Off

Horror director Eli Roth has been signed up to write an episode of the new Heroes spin-off show Heroes: Origins. Producers are establishing a star-studded list of Hollywood's top talent to take control of the much anticipated series, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Superman Returns co-writer Michael Dougherty is also expected to be handed an episode to write. The show will launch in the US next year and introduce a new set of superheroes, who viewers will be able to vote onto the cast of Heroes.

I'm a Heroes fan and watch the show every week, but I can't help but think a spinoff this soon could be anything but LAME.

Kevin Smith is directing the first episode.

at first glance, it definitely looks like a desperate attempt to pillage the one solid hit NBC debuted last season. i believe NBC was last in the overall ratings out of the major networks.

i think the other networks are planning a few 'Heroes' copycats as well...

Idea will probably end up coming out lame...granted Kevin Smith is good, as are probably many others they'll sign up to direct - but Eli Roth?! this guy f'n blows! (cabin fever, hostel, hostel 2 - UGH!)
