FLORIDIANS IN FOR A REAL NEW YORK TREAT

October 3, 2007 -- Florida will be a little chillier when Manhattan's legendary celebrity dessert emporium Serendipity 3 brings its famed "Frrrozen" hot chocolate and other confections to Boca Raton.

For the first time in its 54-year history, there will be an out-of-state branch of the hot fudge-and-hamburger haunt, which will open at the venerable Boca Raton Resort & Club, owned by LXR Resorts & Hotels.

"Pairing the two entities seemed like a natural fit," said a LXR spokeswoman.

It is expected to open by next spring.

The whimsical restaurant, festooned with Tiffany lamps and cozy marble tables is where then-first lady Jackie Kennedy was denied the recipe for the famed "Frrrozen" hot chocolate and where her romantic rival Marilyn Monroe would often show up wearing nothing but a raincoat and sunglasses to indulge in her favorite, Miss Milton's fudge pie.

More recent regulars at the East 60th Street townhouse location include John Travolta and his kids, and Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, who celebrated their son's birthday there.

One barometer on the Florida economy may be measured by how many residents buy the Golden Opulence Sundae, a gold-leafed confection made with the World's most expensive chocolate, truffles, and salt-free dessert caviar, which sells for $1,000 and requires a 48-hour notice.

I would imagine the restaurants being open to the public, but I guess I've never dealth with an Uber-exclusive resort & club.

What a bunch of horse shit!!!!! So I decided to call them up to find out. And ALL the restaurants at the Boca Raton Resort & Club are only for resort guests & club members.

WTF maite! Why couldn't Serendipity open anywhere else in Boca?! Hell, even in a ritzy, PUBLIC part of Boca, but c'mon... Why close it off to the rest of the public?!
