| CoolJunkie | Registered members do not see ads. Register or logon for a better view. If any of you guys are on Tribe.net, I just started a "CoolJunkie" tribe over there that everybody is welcome to join. Look for "techjunkie", that's me.

| CoolJunkie | What's Tribe.net about or what's our tribe about? Tribe.net is a social network like Friendster, my personal favorite so far. The CJ tribe over there is just a place for CJ people who are on Tribe, just because I'm curious to see if anybody will end up there. I'm just toying with the system is all, but anybody who happens to be on Tribe.net is welcome to stop by. I have been using MySpace.com also but it seems to me to be more for dating and less for general socializing, and MySpace is severely clunky compared to Tribe.net. IMHO.

| CoolJunkie | They have been marketing Tribe.net like crazy, is what got my attention. Full page ad in the Street this week for the South Beach tribe that they are starting.

| CoolJunkie | I am too. So how does MySpace work? I just don't get it. It seems so clunky and I just don't see much going on there, but everybody seems to be talking about it. I signed up, set up my account a little, but there just doesn't seem to be much to do there. Tribe.net is full of all kinds of niche clubs that you can join to meet people who are on your wavelength, but I don't see anything like that going on at MySpace. You have to use MySpace more like a dating site where you run searches for people?

| CoolJunkie | Myspace is aighit. some people i know have gone on dates, some have used it more for networking, there is a little bit of everything. (even a WMC bound crew) i personally havent used it for more than entertainment purposes, there are some real coo-ckos in there ![]() |

| CoolJunkie | Indeed there are, but some people specifically like the coockoos I think. I have a friend who uses MySpace extensively to promote a monthly party in town. He ramped the party from 300 people to 600 in one month and he swears that it's all because of that site. Me, though, I just don't get it. I really do like Tribe.net though. Tribe reminds me of what reading Usenet newsgroups used to be like, before all fo the spam started. There used to be a little niche Usenet message board for every possible interest, no matter how fringe. That was one of the things that I loved so much about the net when it was first exploding. Tribe.net is like a nicely-organized way of doing the same thing that totally centers around hooking you up with people who share your interests. It's just fun, it's surfable. I'm going to (politely) post CJ events there in the South Beach and WMC and CoolJunkie tribes for a while just to see what happens and where it goes. I don't think that CoolJunkie and Tribe.net compete, I think that Tribe.net is a new medium that CoolJunkie can contribute to and benefit from.
